Relocation Incentive Program
Move to Northwest Wisconsin, and you may get $10,000!
Who Qualifies?
To qualify for an incentive, you must:
Live outside of Wisconsin at the time of application with no active lease or mortgage in Wisconsin.
Intend to relocate to Burnett, Polk, St. Croix, Pierce, Douglas, Washburn, Barron, Dunn, or Pepin Counties.
Have a household income over $55,000/year based on your most recent federal tax return.
Qualify for either (or both) of the pathways below
- Young Family Pathway, defined as households with or expecting a dependent child under the age of 18; or
- Employer Pathway, defined as a household with a member who has an active job offer from am employer who is a Certified Family Friendly Workplace and also a member of the Burnett, Polk, St. Croix, or Pierce County Economic Development Corporations. Your new employer will have provided you with information for this pathway.
How It Works
6 Simple Steps
1. Check Your Eligibility
You may qualify if you currently live outside Wisconsin, have a household income of $55,000 or more, and you ultimately relocate to one of our nine eligible counties: Burnett, Polk, St. Croix, Pierce, Pepin, Dunn, Barron, Washburn, or Douglas. You’ll also need to qualify through either a job offer from a participating employer or having a dependent child/expecting a child.
2. Apply Before You Sign a Lease
Submit your application online before you sign a Wisconsin lease or mortgage. This order matters. Applications submitted after signing a lease or mortgage are not eligible.
3. Provide Your Documentation
Along with your application, you’ll provide proof of your out-of-state residence, proof of income, and documentation for your qualifying pathway (job offer or family status). Detailed instructions are provided during the application process.
4. Get Approved
Once your application is complete, we’ll review it and let you know our decision by email. Approved applicants have a window of time to finalize their move to Wisconsin.
5. Sign Your Lease or Mortgage and Receive Your First Payment
Once you’ve signed a Wisconsin lease or mortgage in an eligible county, submit a copy to us. Half of your incentive is issued at this stage.
6. Stay Settled and Receive Your Final Payment
After six months in your new home, submit proof of continued residency (a payment receipt plus one other document showing your Wisconsin address). The remaining half of your incentive is issued once this is confirmed.
